Eighteen months ago, when Lily was only two and a half, she loved to dance. Then, in the space of just a few weeks, her family’s world changed completely.
Lily became increasingly unwell with vomiting, loss of appetite, and distress. Her parents, Sabrina and Rhys, sought medical help repeatedly. After several emergency visits, appointments, tests, and scans, Lily suddenly suffered a seizure and stopped breathing.
An emergency scan revealed an ependymoma brain tumour. By then, the tumour had caused dangerously high pressure inside her skull and deprived her brain of vital blood flow and oxygen. Lily was rushed into brain surgery to remove the tumour and save her life.
The tumour was removed, but the pressure, oxygen deprivation, and complexity of the surgery left Lily with a severe hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. When she woke, she could no longer breathe on her own, swallow, track the world with her eyes, or move her arms and legs.
Since then, Lily’s family has devoted itself to her recovery. Through intensive neurological rehabilitation and specialised therapies, she has begun to make meaningful progress. She smiles. She giggles. She recognises the people she loves. Every small response is a reminder that her story is still being written.
Lily’s family is now pursuing MUSE stem cell therapy together with intensive neurological rehabilitation. According to the family’s campaign, the plan includes six rounds of treatment followed by approximately three months of focused rehabilitation. Because Lily previously survived a brain tumour, her family says this particular treatment option was selected with her medical history in mind.
The treatment and rehabilitation are not covered by insurance, leaving the family with an enormous financial burden. Funds raised are intended to help cover the planned treatment, specialised neuro-rehabilitation, travel and related medical expenses, and the practical costs of supporting Lily throughout this next stage of recovery.
For Sabrina, Rhys, and Lily’s sister Violet, the hope is simple: to give Lily every possible opportunity to regain movement and function, reconnect with the world around her, and one day experience more of the childhood she once knew.
Every contribution — no matter the amount — can help bring Lily closer to the care her family is working so hard to access. If donating is not possible, sharing her story can still help it reach someone who may be able to support her.
Please stand with Lily and her family as they continue this incredibly difficult journey. Your kindness can help make the next stage of care more achievable.
